Hello and Welcome!
Welcome to the first River Crane Framing newsletter. So much has happened in the last 6 months that it feels like time to send out an update and tell you about our latest activities. I plan to do two newsletters each year, summer and autumn, to tell you about open house events, craft shows and workshops, all other news will be on the blog.
Workshops
Looking for a gift for a friend or someone in the family? Why not try a picture-framing workshop? I have introduced private tuition in my workshop and a session or two make a nice gift for someone looking to try something new.
I’ve found that the workshop sessions work well as I can adapt the course to suit the individual, so whether you’re an artist looking to create a set of book mounted prints, or just want to try your hand at something new, why not get in touch to book a session?
I run the introduction to framing workshops for one or two people at a time, as a single day event, or split into two morning sessions. Either way you start with a print, painting or photograph and leave with a framed piece of art, ready to hang, together with the satisfaction that you’ve done it yourself! See the website for pricing and other details.
I have been teaching an introduction to picture framing and mount cutting for DIY Framing for a few years now, and continue to do that. In April, I started teaching a framing leisure course at Richmond Adult Community College, where we’re working on a few different projects. So the private tuition follows on from that and fits neatly into my passion, to teach.
ArtHouse Artist Open Studios 2015
Here’s a first! I’m opening up my studio and workshop on the 4th and 5th July. My workshop has progressed from something of a cave to a wonderful space to work in. Why not pop in to say “hi”, have a chat and see the workshop?
If you have a piece that you’ve been meaning to get framed, then bring it, if not, just stop for a chat – we’d love to see you. Click here for all the details to my ArtHouse Open Studio and other artists in the area.
Craft Fairs and Framing
I’m never sure craft fairs are my “thing”, until I went to HANDS Craft Fair on Twickenham Green in May. I took a selection of framed mirrors and chalkboards, some chalk and an outdoor rug. We had a lovely day as the kids got lost in drawing and doodling on the blackboards and we enjoyed meeting and chatting the local crowd. If we met you at the fair, thank you for stopping by, it was lovely to meet you!
and finally,
In the end it is all about the frame. Don’t forget we can source maps, mirrors, blackboards and frame them for you. If you have a broken frame, a piece with the glass broken that you’ve been meaning to get fixed and back on the wall, give me a call and let’s get that sorted out.
Hope to see you soon,
Kind regards
Sue
